The soldier known as Adamaris rem Vescorus is an omen of death on the battlefield. A commanding officer of Tribunus Adrestus sas Lexius, he leads a cohort of heavy assault specialists for dire operations in major skirmishes. Few tales are told of him, as those who face him in battle rarely live to speak of it. Still, there are hushed, fearful rumors in the northern sects of Gyr Abanian resistance cells of an Imperial giant who crushes men like insects beneath an enormous great hammer.Battle, however, is but one defining feature of a man, and more always lies beneath.

Many, including her own men, are unaware she is a woman at all, given her stature and the voice modulations installed in her armor to deepen her voice. One may assume Vescorus's armor and its functions are a way to hide her identity, but in truth, she is the same woman both in and outside of it: prideful, abrasive, but not unnecessarily cruel. Her loyalty is to herself, her men, and her superior in that order. As such, she follows a code of her own, and has been known to break orders that she does not agree with. Such a code does not paint her as a paragon of morality, as many cruel deeds have been done by her hand, but rather a set of lines that she will not cross regardless of the circumstances.The image of her with her beloved great hammer paints her as a brutish, slow-witted soldier, good for combat alone. It is an assumption that she makes no attempt to correct, lacking the interest in putting in effort to do so. If one were to dig beneath, however, they would find Vescorus to be well-learned,indicative of a possible noble upbringing. Like her face, her past is known to next to no one, and it seems she has no intention of changing that.

History

The soldier known as Adamaris rem Vescorus does not seem to have a past. There is no record of any prominent Garlean households with a name such as 'Vescorus', nor has anyone ever heard of them. Instead, Vescorus surfaced alongside a rising star of the military, then known as Loranius pyr Rubrus, and has been assumed to be a ward (or an illegitimate relation) of Rubrus's own family.While Rubrus had made his name at a younger age, Vescorus found her own reputation skewing towards a respectful one the longer she persisted in ranking up in the Imperial Military. She remained with Rubrus through battle after battle, the two slowly carving their way up to the title of 'Rem'. Such battles were not always successful, especially when they were young; she has enough scars to prove as such. Eventually, however, they felt they had enough experience and skill, and petitioned the respected Tribunus, Adrestus sas Lexius to accept them into their ranks, which he eventually agreed to after several attempts. There, the two flourished, having found their calling in saving losing battles.Since surfacing, Vescorus has always kept the guise of a male. With her stature and impressive strength, it seemed an easy rouse to hold up. Her motivations for doing so are more than a little uncertain, and only few know otherwise.Currently, Vescorus is being held in Eorzea by a group that opposes Adrestus sas Lexius. Having been presented evidence of the Tribunus's corruption, she has begrudgingly agreed to aid in their investigations.

Appearance

If there is one thing that Vescorus is known for, it is her size. Though her armor exaggerates it by a large degree, she still stands a head above the average Garlean height, and her build is made of heavy muscle from long years of fighting. She is broad shouldered, arms powerful, with her form narrowing down subtly from her chest. It is far from a feminine form, muscle covering her bust and stomach, with only a slight roundness to her hips to tell otherwise.Her hair is a dark, blue-black, which she will typically braid and draw back to keep it out of the way. She indulges in small ornamentation in it, such as silver beads or a simple hairpin, so long as it serves a functional purpose as well; a bead may be a hidden communicator, a pin a makeshift weapon should something go awry. Vanity is not her strong suit.Her face is fair, however, being pale-of-skin, features delicately carved among her otherwise indelicate appearance. Her eyes are a dark, golden-tinted shade, angled in a stately almond-shape.If seen outside of her armor, she favors simple, comfortable clothing above anything else. Neutral colors dominate her wardrobe, though she has a fondness for dark crimsons or burgundy reds, and will slip such colors in when she is able.

Note: The in-game avatar uses an Elezen model, but should be regarded as a pureblood Garlean.

Equipment

**Modified Heavy Armor: **
Vescorus wears a unique set of armor of reinforced Garlean steel. Her large stature is exaggerated further by the wide and ornate plating, creating the image of a giant on the battlefield. The armor has been modified in a number of ways, most notibly the magitek stability enhancers that allow her to move more easily in the suit that would otherwise be burdensome. Her helmet, decorated by two large, upwards-curling horns, is fitted with a number of magitek enhancements as well, including several spectrums of vision (night, thermal), and a voice modulator that simulates a deep, booming baritone when she speaks.Great Hammer:
Similarly to her armor, Vescorus's great hammer was made for her alone. The weight itself is far too heavy for a typical man's strength, the head alone weighing near as much as an average midlander hyur. It has been outfitted with the capability to charge its surface with lightning-aspected aether, which works to stun targets long enough for a strong, crushing blow.

Soldiers grow tired or hungry. In the end, after clashing over and over again, one side must always capituate. Losses are to be expected, but every power has holds that cannot afford to fall. When those points are under siege and are at the edge of defeat, the vanguard of the VIIIth Legion is deployed.Nicknamed "the Ultimus Vanguard" for the swift end to conflicts they bring, they has become a ominous rumor in disputed regions of Gyr Abania and further north. They are fierce, unrelenting, and have a great deal of blood on their hands. Under sas Lexius, they have been trained as defensive specialists, keeping enemy lines from advancing or capturing any holdings. They stay only as long as the battle rages before being deployed once more, never staying to savor a victory or the spoils of war.While Sas Lexius controls the ebb and flow of a battle, analyzing it from afar, his two subordinate commanders, Rem Rubrus and Rem Vescorus lead their men from the front. Their fighting style complements each other, having fought alongside one another since youth, and the sight of them leading a battle inspires their forces while demoralizing their enemies. The two are far more deadly when fighting as a pair as opposed to alone,though even alone, they both boast considerable skill. Considerable as it may be, it is said that they pale in comparison to Lexius himself despite the man rarely drawing a blade for himself.

Imperial Soldiers - Vescorus has spent the most time in the VIIIth Legion, though she has fought alongside others in various skirmishes. Perhaps they, at one time, came to regard one another as friendly(?) acquaintances when they crossed paths.Gyr Abanian Resistance Members - Vescorus is nightmare of a giant to many who oppose the Empire in and around Gyr Abania. She and your character may have fought against one another and, uncharacteristically, lived to see another day. Maybe a rematch is in order. Maybe she killed a friend. Maybe it is time to make amends.

Note: Should any hook be used, Vescorus is known publicly as male and does not show her face unless forced to. All but a handful of people would know her as a woman. She is, however, able to be identified by the great hammer she carries with her.

About the player:
I am a US based East Coast RPer who has been RPing for longer than I want to say (because that makes me feel old). I love to world build, and be sucked into the worlds that other players create as well. At the moment, my main method of RP is on discord. I work unpredictable hours, and run both an FC and RP tavern, AND got talked into raiding, so discord is definitely the easiest way to get some stories going with me.What I'm looking for:
18+ Roleplayers - I'm older, relaxed, easy-going, and I like my RP friends to be the same. In addition, I shy away from players who aren't good at separating IC from OOC or RP with characters who seem to be self-inserts.Grammatical Awareness - I am a terrible grammar nazi. I'm sorry. I'm not going to nitpick over a misspelled word here or there, but if there are consistent, glaring errors, it breaks a lot of immersion for me. I put a lot of effort into my writing, and it is nice when others do the same.Dark/Story-based/Conflict RP: Slice of life is nice occasionally, but I really enjoy darker themes. Drama, conflict, drugs, rock and roll, all are great.Para-RP?
I tend not to describe myself as a para-RPer. My posts will vary depending on just what I want to say. Sometimes, several paragraphs aren't necessary, especially in the middle of RP conversations. I've found that trying to write too much will end up feeling unnatural, and it will be almost like the characters are having two or three conversations at once. That being said, there are times where several paragraphs are necessary. It all depends on the scene and what I am trying to convey.

RP Limits

  • NO violence against children or animals. If your character had abuse problems as a child, that’s fine. I just actively will not participate in RP where children are abused. Conversation about it is all right. Likewise for animals, I won’t knock anyone who plays a hunter or goes off to slay dragons. I mean harming helpless animals (dogs, cats, wounded/sick creatures, etc.)

  • NO bad pregnancy plots. Make all the babies! Have all the babies! If it’s a hard pregnancy, sure, that’s fine. But I’m mostly talking about ‘bad ends’ pregnancies that involve the death of the mother, child, or both.

  • NO suicide plots. Hard no for me. I enjoy dark plots, but I find that many inexperienced roleplayers tend to make light of this issue and go to it more often than desired. On the other hand, some roleplayers who struggle in their personal lives can go to these plots with self-insert characters as a cry for help or attention. Of course, everyone is free to play what they like, but I respectfully ask to be left out of any mention or roleplay regarding this topic.
